About

  • Hi there, friend! It’s so lovely to meet you. My name is Kimberly, but most people call me Kim, and I am the owner and founder of Seeds of Connections. I am a mental health advocate, activist, and a Certified Peer and Family Specialist.

From as young as I can remember, I knew I wanted to help people. I worked in retail for the better part of my life and loved the connections that I built, but hated the pressure of selling to people. It was when I was diagnosed with my mental health conditions that I knew what I wanted to do.

As someone with their own lived experience with mental health challenges and trauma, I have sought to connect with others, deepening my empathy and compassion for those who feel like they don’t fit in with society. I am deeply invested in engaging in the fight against stigma and shame, and believe healthcare should be accessible to everyone, no matter where they come from.

In addition to my work as a peer specialist, I am also a Certified QPR Instructor, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and an Intentional Peer Support trainer. I am also very passionate in social causes and justice, human rights, and equity and inclusivity.

  • I was inspired to start this website and introduce the concept of making “Kind Cards” by a simple event a few years ago. I was starting my commute to work one morning when I decided to stop by a coffee shop for a pick-me-up.

Being the procrastinator that I am in the mornings, I headed for the drive-thru. Then as luck would have had it, another car slipped in line right before me. I was so angry that they got in first, but my demeanor changed instantaneously the moment I saw the car’s back window.

There was no glamor to it, nor anything shiny. There wasn’t even any color. Printed in white and outlined in black were the words, “I hope you have a good day.”

To this day, I’m awestruck by how much a different those few words meant to me. It changed my day and indeed, my perspective on how a simple message as short as this could have such an impact. This was during a time in which the world was still plagued by a pandemic during a time of uncertainty.

As following events unfolded, I realized that I wanted to be a part of this culture, a culture of giving back with kindness. And that paved the way for Seeds of Connections to form!
