Peer support is a person and relationship-centered support system based on respect, mutuality, and shared responsibility. Its goal involves giving and receiving support among individuals who share similar life experiences or face similar challenges.
Unlike traditional support systems that often have a hierarchical dynamic between the helper and the helped, peer support highlights that both people are experts of their own experiences, promoting a sense of equality and reciprocity.
It is frequently used in settings such as mental health, substance use recovery, and chronic illness management, where those who have "been there” can offer empathy, validation, and unique tools that traditional professionals may not provide. This type of support creates a safe, non-judgmental space where both individuals can practice bravery, helping them feel less alone and more understood.
Peer support settings are usually one-on-one interactions or support groups, aimed at empowering individuals, helping them reclaim their power, and fostering hope and resilience.

While peer support is therapeutic, it is not a replacement for therapy other other health professions. It is not clinical, because peer support is not about diagnosis, exploring trauma, or giving advice. It is not a substitute for crisis interventions,. However, peer support can be beneficial in helping prevent crisis situations and help mitigate risk of safety,

Since peer support is not a clinical or prescriptive practice, I cannot accept insurance, however, I try to make peer support meetings as financially accessible for everyone.

On this website, anything you share publicly can be accessed by anyone. Please be mindful about what you intend to share. In a peer support meeting, I will not disclose anything you share with me to anyone, outside of a few exceptions:
If I’m concerned about your personal safety or the safety of others
There is a concern of someone in the home being at risk of abuse or neglect
If these situations arise, I follow HeyPeers’ protocol by reporting my concerns to the HeyPeers management, who will investigate further.

You do not need an account on Seeds of Connections to access any and all of the features on the website. If you are wanting to access individual or group peer support with me, you will have to create a free account with HeyPeers as these services are provided through this platform.

Kind Cards are wallet-sized cards with inspirational messages offering hope, encouragement, and compassion. If someone gives you one, it’s yours to keep, or you can pass it onto someone who could hear this same message. If you decide to share it, you can keep the trail of kindness going by sharing where the last person gave it to you!
